Introduction:

Miguel Costa is currently a Senior Instructor at Department of Computer and Information Science at the Faculty of Science and Technology of the University of Macau.

He attained a B.Sc. in Software Engineering in 1988, a Postgraduate Specialization in System Analysis in 1990, and a Licenciatura in Computer Science in 1992, all of them from Universidade Mackenzie (Brazil). After graduating he worked as programmer and system analyst in different sectors in Brazil.

In 1995, he joined DCIS as a teaching assistant. In 2001, he attained a MBA in Marketing and Strategic Management from the joint programme organized by ISCTE - Instituto Universitário de Lisboa, (Portugal) and University of Macau, and in 2016, he attained a MSc in Software Engineering from University of Macau.

In 2004, he received the FST Teaching Award. In the academic year 2017/2018, he received the FST Teaching Excellence Award, and he was FST nominee for the UM Teaching Excellence Award 2017/2018.

Miguel has taught over these years several undergraduate courses in different areas, and supervised several B.Sc. final year projects at DCIS. Among other roles, he was FST coordinator of Portuguese speaking countries exchange programmes, Centre for Teaching and Learning Enhancement, General Education course area coordinator for Information Technology and Knowledge Society. He is currently Fellow of UM's Stanley Ho East Asia College.
